So I've got a bit of a situation with my 2016 Range Rover Sport and I'm hoping someone here has been through something similar. Over the past week or so I've noticed this metallic ticking noise coming from the engine, especially when it's cold starting in the morning, and it seems to get louder when I accelerate. I've been reading up on these 3.0L supercharged V6 engines and apparently timing chain tensioner failure is a known issue on some of these models, which is pretty scary because I know that can lead to catastrophic engine failure if it lets go completely. The car has about 110,000 km on it and I've always serviced it on time, but this noise has me genuinely worried. I took it to a local garage and they said it might be the injectors or maybe a lifter tick, but honestly they didn't seem super confident in their diagnosis. I really need to find a place that knows these engines inside out because I don't want to keep driving it and risk making things worse. A colleague at work who has a full-size Range Rover mentioned Range Rover repair established service and said there's a specialist in Al Quoz that's been working on these cars for years. Has anyone here had timing chain issues on their Sport or similar model and can tell me what symptoms they experienced and what the repair actually cost? I'm trying to prepare myself for the worst but hoping it's something minor.
